Trip Journal is the ultimate trip tracking, recording, documenting and sharing solution that is currently available for the iPhone and Android powered smart phones.
Use Trip Journal to document your vacation experiences and share them with your friends and family. Track your traveling route, record waypoints, photos and notes and attach them to the trip. Visualize the recorded information and follow your position on the map.
Impress your friends by sending them real time updates from the places that you are visiting, and let them know about what you have been doing lately, share your recorded information as nicely designed KMZ files that can be viewed in Google Earth.
Features
- GPS Tracking. Turn on the track route, and the application will continuously get and record the GPS coordinates of your current position. The tracking algorithm processes the GPS entries, before generating the actual travel route that can be seen in real time in the maps screen. The travel route, combined with your recorded trip items and content, can also be shared with friends.
- Waypoints. Record and administrate waypoints, to keep track of the visited places. Waypoints are geotagged with the place's GPS coordinates, are incorporated in the travel route, and can be viewed on the map in the application an also in the export file.
- Photos. Take photos at any time and associate them with the trip or with the current waypoint. Gallery photos can be also attached to previously created waypoints. The name of the photo can be set, and a comment can also be attached. All photos are geotagged with the GPS coordinates of your position at the time the pictures are taken. Photos are incorporated in your travel route and can be viewed on the map in the application and also in the export file.
- Notes. Write notes on the way, to better describe your travel experiences, and associate them with the trip or with a certain waypoint. Notes can be later viewed or edited in the notes list.
- Maps. View the trip progress on the map screen. Browse waypoints and trip photos, and see details for the selected items. See the recorded trip route, and also the connections between independently taken photos and waypoints. Use the enhanced map controls to easily navigate through the trip content. The follow position mode allows tracking your position on the map, your route being drawn in real time showing your location.
- Statistics. View statistics for your recorded trips, including the total covered distance, average speed, minimum and maximum altitudes and more. Statistics are being updated in real time, following your trip progress.
- Share Trips. Use the application export option to generate a KMZ file that contains your travel route so far, the recorded waypoints, photos taken and comments written during your journey. The KMZ file is sent to your friends by email from the application, and can be viewed in Google Earth.
Innovations aside, the app sports a sweet UI that's fitting for the most adventurous Indiana Jones - no wonder Google awarded these guys the #1 Mobile Travel Application in the Android Developer Contest!
